Today we hear from Sally Coon of Kamas, Utah. Her senior dog has found relief with Lolahemp after years of hiking and snowshoeing. Here is what she had to share:
Chloe is a 16 year old Lhasa Apso. She had been owned by a family with 4 children and living in a townhouse, but when the parents went thru a divorce they decided she needed a home. She came to us when she was 9 months old. The first day we owned her we took her on a mountain hike, up Iron Mountain in Park City, Utah. That was the start of many, many hikes and snowshoes to come.
Chloe was hit by a car in 2011, breaking one hip and dislocating her femur on the other hip. A pin was put in the broken hip but the dislocation on the other side could not be reset. So, the veterinarian cut the head of her femur off, and rather than being in the joint, the bone is held in place by muscles. She pulled through this like a champion, and after healing, continued hiking with us and our other dogs.
Chloe also suffers from severe allergies. During one allergy flare-up, she got a bad ear infection and lost all hearing. And now, at 16, her hiking days are over as her legs often wont hold the weight of her body. She’s still a happy girl, goes to the barn, loves to lay on the porch and survey the comings and goings around her. Evenings can be the toughest time for Chloe, and she becomes restless and whines, I believe with general discomfort.
Lolahemp was referred to me by a co-worker. I put about 3 drops on a bite of bread for Chloe in the evenings, and we’ve been so impressed to see her relax, sleep through the night, and be her old spunky self in the mornings. She is 16, she still has weakness in her legs, and sometimes they slide out from under her, but I believe the Lolahemp has helped her with discomfort and sleep. She loves to run to the barn, eat the grain off the floor, yip for her daily treat, and has been a joy to us (our first small dog). After 1000 miles and 1000 mountains, I would do anything to help her feel better during the last years of her life.
Who knew this little spirit had such a strong soul. Now as her hips are failing and her hearing is gone and she’s getting older, Lolahemp has totally helped her enjoy her later years. She still sleeps a lot but her waking hours are full of pleasure for her and that makes me so happy. Thank you for helping my amazing little dog enjoy her latter years!
